Chalazion Surgery
Chalazion Excision in Adults
This procedure is performed in our office. Our doctors will numb your eyelid. Most incisions are made on the under side of the eyelid. The inflamed tissue is scooped out with a sterile surgical instrument, and in some cases dissolvable stitches may be used. Ointment will be will be applied to inside your eye and an eye patch will be tape over your eye.
An antibiotic ointment will be used for approximately 1 week after the procedure.
Please tell our staff if you are taking blood thinners. In general, we will ask you to stop taking aspirin or other blood thinning medications 1 – 2 weeks prior to this procedure.
